Colo Not Targeting Europe

Post  Toon Stig on Sun Oct 09, 2011 8:42 am

Fabricio Coloccini has hinted he is not targeting Europe.

The Captain said,
"I don't know about
Europe next year. It is
too early to talk about
Europe - we need to
keep going and keep
working and then we will
see," he told the Evening
Chronicle.

"First of all we have to
build the foundations at
this club.

"I would prefer to leave
the Europa League for
the year after next - not
next year.

"I think we need to build
a good team, a good
squad - that is the biggest
priority for us.

The Argentine also stated the Spurs match next week will be a good test for Newcastle's European Credentials.

Sensible words by Captain Colo. Smile

But if this run keeps up I do wonder how long it will be before the players turn their thoughts to Europe. I mean we have 2 home games and in my view, 2 winnable home games. Win them and we're on 21 points more than half way to the 40 point mark. We have a great opportunity to build on our excellent start and maybe get the pundits talking.

We have a tremendous opportunity to build on our confidence too. That said, 4 points from these home games would satisfy me greatly. Very Happy
